Bush Theatre Design Assistant (Unpaid)

The renowned Bush Theatre in London are looking for Design Assistants to work with established designers. Please Note: This is an unpaid part time position (no expenses).

“The Bush Theatre are currently looking for emerging designers to take on assistant designer roles in our forthcoming season of work.  We hope that this will give designers who may be at the beginning of their career the opportunity to work alongside more established designers (recent designers at the Bush include Christopher Oram, Peter Mackintosh and Tom Scutt).

We are offering one Assistant Designer position for each show, our show slots run between September 2009 and April 2010 and each slot is approximately 6-8 weeks.  The time commitment can be flexible, but is likely to involve around two days a week before and during the rehearsal period and a week full-time for get-in, technical rehearsals and initial previews.

This is a pilot scheme which we are launching with a view to gaining funding in the future, and therefore we are unable to offer any fee or expenses.  However we are hoping to provide studio space as part of the attachment, which would be available for the whole period of the season.

Anyone interested should email info@bushtheatre.co.uk with ASSISTANT DESIGNER PLACEMENT in the subject line.

Get in touch even if this scheme doesn’t sound quite right for you; we are a small organisation and can often tailor-make placements on a shorter-term basis.”
